SureServo2 (SV2A Series) Servo Systems

SureServo2 banner with line up of SureServo components of motors, drivers, encoders.

SureServo2 family of brushless servo systems is the newest edition of the flagship SureServo family. SureServo2 systems combine a high-performance servo motor with a servo amplifier (drive) to achieve extremely accurate position, velocity, or torque control. High-level automatic tuning offers a variety of modes for improving system performance. Select system size based on power/torque requirements. Add power and feedback cables plus an I/O breakout module for a complete system.

Please note that SureServo2 components are not compatible with SureServo1 components. Each system must contain motors/drives/cables from the same family. Mixing and matching families is not permitted.

The SureServo2 family of brushless servo systems is fully digital and offers a rich set of features to cover a broad range of motion control applications. There are 26 standard servo motors that can be operated in combination with one of 16 standard servo drives. Perfectly matched systems from 100W to 15kW:

• 120VAC single-phase input: 100W - 2kW

• 230VAC single-phase input: 100W - 2kW

• 230VAC three-phase input: 100W - 15kW

• 460VAC three-phase input: 400W - 15kW

The SureServo2 family includes standard accessories such as: servo motor encoder cables, servo motor power/brake cables, direct mount and DIN-rail mount I/O break-out kits for easy connection of external command and I/O signals, optional battery backup for the encoder, optional external braking resistors, and optional AC input filters. SV2A drives are highly compatible, designed for seamless integration with AutomationDirect CLICK, Do-more BRX, and Productivity series PLCs, and most other host controllers or HMI system.

Each drive includes a powerful on-board motion controller that supports advanced features such as registration, electronic camming, and event-based logic control for precise, flexible automation. Optional modules for EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP are available, enabling robust factory networking capabilities and integration into modern industrial Ethernet environments.

The user-friendly configuration software is available as a free download or on an optional USB device. SV2-PRO supports parameter upload and download, multiple auto-tuning modes, and comes equipped with a built-in oscilloscope for efficient diagnostics and troubleshooting.

Hardware Features

• External encoder support provides full closed-loop control (i.e. to compensate for slippage between motor and load)

• 24-bit encoder has over 16 million PPR resolution (that's >46k pulses for ONE degree of motion). And the drive will scale to any input pulse resolution, while still maintaining this high degree of internal accuracy for all moves

• Absolute encoder (with battery backup) never loses position, even when drive power is disconnected

• Safe Torque Off (STO) for machine safety compliance without using bulky, expensive contactors

• Professionally manufactured cables for motor power, encoder feedback, and brake (optional), in standard or continuous flexing versions (3m, 5m, 10m, or 20m lengths)

SureServo2 Drives accept a wide range of command signals:

• Position commands:

○ Pulse and direction

○ "Count up / count down" format (CW/CCW)

• Built-in motion controller with up to 99 motion "segments"

• Select preset moves with switch inputs and/or the RS-485 Modbus serial interface

• Optional EtherNet/IP and ModbusTCP Ethernet modules allow full command and control options across your network

• Encoder follower

• Analog Velocity (+/-10V)

• Analog Torque (+/-10V)

• "On-the-Fly" control mode switching

• Registration

• Electronic camming

• Flying shear

• Logic/sequential control

Configuration, tuning and diagnostics:

• Integrated keypad/display for access to ALL drive parameters

• Take advantage of the FREE SureServo2® Pro PC-based configuration software

○ Parameter upload/download/archive

○ Parameter wizards for fast system commissioning

○ Built-in oscilloscope lets you see exactly what is happening

○ Allows firmware downloads to keep your drives up-to-date

• Multiple tuning modes:

○ One Touch Auto Tuning – the drive tunes the motor without any motion (static motor/system analysis)

○ Normal Auto Tuning – the drive tunes the load while an external controller or the drive's internal indexer provides point-to-point moves

○ Assisted Tuning – three modes where the drive tunes the motor while moving. The user can adjust responsiveness while the drive is analyzing the system

○ Manual Tuning – more than 20 parameters are available to give power users the ultimate flexibility to tune their systems

• Adapt to diverse applications with configurable I/O, including

○ Ten (10) digital inputs

○ Six (6) digital outputs

○ Two (2) analog output signals

○ One (1) secondary encoder input

○ One (1) scalable encoder output
